Mackinac Bridge

1 of 3

The Mackinac Bridge, which connects Michigan's upper and lower peninsulas over the Straits of Mackinac, is America's longest suspension bridge. The bridge's total length, including its approaches, is roughly five miles. The bridge is a modern engineering wonder.

You may reach the bridge from either northern Michigan's Interstate 75 at St. Ignace or the southern peninsula's Mackinaw City. If you want to walk across this incredible bridge, plan your visit to coincide with the annual Mackinac Bridge Walk in September, which draws hundreds of enthusiastic hikers.
